
The Grosse Pointe Woods Campus is a beautiful 15-acre setting with home-like residential cottages, recreational facilities and administrative buildings. Children attend Grosse Pointe Public Schools or the on-grounds Barnard Center or Lakepointe Academy. Each child participates in a uniquely designed treatment program which includes individual and family therapy, emotional support, recreational and cultural enrichment opportunities. Residential
The residential program of the Children’s Home of Detroit is a specialized
residential treatment program located in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.
Intensive treatment is provided in a beautiful open campus environment
for up to 84 residents between the ages of 5 and 17. Individualized multidisciplinary
mental health, case management, and educational services are designed
to address emotional and behavioral problems which prevent youngsters
from living in their homes and local communities. The average length
of stay is approximately 9 months but varies according to treatment goals,
progress and discharge planning.
Respite
A flexible short or long-term care for boys and girls 5 to 17, who are
experiencing crisis in the home. Respite care provides supplemental
interventions as part of a planned program of support services. Short-term
respite services include cottage housing, medical care, recreation, milieu
and therapeutic activities. Children who stay for extended respite care
receive educational services and additional therapeutic support services.
Population
We provide services for boys and girls ages 5-17 with behavioral and
mental health needs. Our population includes children who are diagnosed
with Attention Deficit Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder, Depression, Oppositional
Defiant Disorder, etc., who are in need of a structured environment,
and the support of a therapeutic milieu.
