Residential
Each child entering into our residential program is given an initial assessment
to determine their strengths and needs and to develop individualized treatment
goals. We reassess throughout the child’s stay at CHD to determine
the changing needs of each resident, and to individualize each treatment
plan.
Residents are provided with weekly individual therapy sessions, bi-weekly group therapy, family therapy 2-4 times per month, as well as, adventure learning, recreational and cultural enrichment opportunities, milieu therapy, and person centered planning. Schooling is provided by the Grosse Pointe Public School System in the community, or at Lakepointe Academy or Barnard Center which are located on CHD’s campus.
Upon discharge 70% of our residents move to a less restrictive setting including return to home or placement in supervised independent living, foster care, or relative’s home.
Respite
Respite services are provided for
children from the community who are experiencing a crisis in the home,
or as a supplemental intervention of a current treatment plan. Short-term
respites receive cottage housing, medical care, recreation, milieu and
therapeutic activities. Extended
respite stays, 5 days or more, will receive educational services, and
additional therapeutic support services.
Respite referrals are initiated by the community agency currently providing services to the child and family. If you are interested in making a respite referral please contact the Admission Department, or click on the link below (coming soon) to fill out a respite referral.
